Cooking Sites
There are some truly amazing plant-based/vegan cooking sites out there.
Cookie and Kate
Cookie and Kate, by Kathryne Taylor, has so many great recipes. She is vegetarian, not vegan, so some of her recipes have dairy in them, but many don’t, and the ones that do you could easily modify to be fully plant based. I haven’t checked out her cookbook yet, but will get a copy soon.
J. L. Goes Vegan
J. L. Goes Vegan, by J. L. Fields, has a lot of great books and recipes for folks who don’t have a lot of time to cook. I saw her at Vegefest a few years ago where she showed how to make a very simple lemon risotto in an Instant Pot. It was so good!
Oh She Glows
Oh She Glows, by Angela Liddon, quickly became a favorite cooking site shortly after I found it. I always find her recipes awesome. She also has great cookbooks.
The Post Punk Kitchen
The Post Punk Kitchen, by Isa Chandra Moskowtiz, was one of the first cooking sites I started going to regularly for recipes and cooking ideas. Isa is a very creative cook and I have always found her dishes amazing and tasty. Check out her cookbooks as well!
Nutrition
There are some excellent websites out there for plant-based nutrition information. There is so much information out there, some good, some misleading. Do be careful when you are looking at sites and make sure they are evidence-based.
Nutrition Facts
Nutrition Facts, by Dr. Michael Greger, is an extensive and amazing site about plant-based nutrition. I am always learning fascinating things there that affect my cooking. For instance, there is a post on broccoli and how some nutrients aren’t released unless you chop the broccoli 40 minutes before eating it, or add in mustard to help the nutrients get released. I made steamed broccoli with a lemon/mustard/garlic sauce that was really good and helped us get all the sulforaphane from the broccoli, which has so many great health benefits. Tasty and healthy!
Plant-Based Health Professionals
The mission of Plant-Based Health Professionals is to
Plant-based health professionals UK provides education and advocacy on whole food plant-based nutrition for the prevention and treatment of chronic disease, as well as for supporting planetary health.
Their site has a bunch of great resources on it, in particular how to modify your plant-based diet based on particular health conditions.
